Two Minute Tip ... Energy Tax Credit

The 2011 Energy Tax Credit for windows and doors are now calculated by taking your total installed cost excluding labor, and multiplying by .10 or 10%. You then apply that amount (up to $200.) against any tax you owe or have pre-paid. Talk to you tax preparer to get the maximum allowed by law. If you have purchased qualifying doors in 2011, you may use the same formula, and the maximum will be $500.

REMEMBER THAT THE WINDOWS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS TO QUALIFY

  • They must have a U-Value of .30 or less
  • They must have a SHGC of .30 or less (solar heat gain coefficient)
